Your Questions, Answered.
There are a lot of exciting things happening at Lotto Spot. We understand you may have questions and below you’ll see answers on a few popular topics.
What changes have been made to LOTTO MAX?
As of the April 14, 2026 draw:
- The jackpot cap is now $90 million (previously $80 million)
- Additional prizes of $100,000 are included in every draw, with more added as the jackpot grows
- You now get four (4) selections of seven (7) numbers (from 1 to 52) for $6 per play
- The odds of winning a prize have improved from 1-in-7 to 1-in-5.8
- To support these enhancements, LOTTO MAX now costs $6
What’s staying the same?
- Draws are still held every Tuesday and Friday
- MAXMILLIONS (additional prizes of $1 million) still come into play when the jackpot reaches $50 million or more
- The odds of winning the jackpot remain 1 in 33 million
Why make these changes?
We’re rolling out a new version of LOTTO MAX to give you more of what you want. Because you love big jackpots—and you’ve been asking for more chances to win smaller prizes.
- The new LOTTO MAX delivers on both fronts: The jackpot can now grow as high as $90 million, and there are more $100,000 additional prizes at every draw—with even more added when the jackpot rolls over.
- These LOTTO MAX updates deliver on what you want most: Bigger jackpots and even more secondary prizes
When do the changes take effect?
The changes take effect after the Friday, April 10 draw. The updated format launches with the Tuesday, April 14 draw.
What happens to LOTTO MAX Free Plays won before the new game conditions take effect?
Any Free Plays won on LOTTO MAX before the new game conditions take effect on April 10, but claimed after April 14, will receive a NEW LOTTO MAX ticket. You will still have the option to add EXTRA for $1.
Why is the price of a ticket increasing?
The price adjustment allows us to introduce exciting new features:
- The jackpot cap will increase from $80 million to $90 million
- Additional prizes of $100,000 are included in every draw, with more added as the jackpot grows
- You now get four (4) Selections of seven (7) numbers (from 1 to 52) for $6 per play
- The overall odds of winning a prize have improved, going from 1-in-7 to 1-in-5.8
- This is the first price change since the game launched in 2009
Are MAXMILLIONS prizes still being offered?
Yes. MAXMILLIONS prizes of $1 million each are included whenever the main jackpot reaches $50 million. More prizes are added with every draw until the jackpot is won.
My number matched four (4) numbers on one line of the MAXMILLIONS numbers. Why didn’t I win?
You can only win on MAXMILLIONS by matching an entire number drawn. There are no subsidiary prizes for matching fewer than all seven (7) numbers.
What happens if more than one (1) ticket wins a $100,000 prize from a MAXPLUS draw? Is each ticket worth $100,000, or a share of $100,000?
Each additional $100,000 prize drawn is equally shared among the winning tickets for that prize.
Where can I buy my LOTTO MAX ticket?
We’ve got you covered. LOTTO MAX tickets can be purchased at any Lotto Spot retailer. Alternatively, if you’re in Alberta or Manitoba, you can purchase online via Play Alberta and PlayNow.
And soon, purchasing LOTTO MAX tickets will be made available on the new Lotto Spot—online and in the app.
I saved my tickets to my wallet. What’s the deadline to redeem?
Your tickets will remain valid until their expiry date (one year after the draw date). Don’t forget to claim your prize!
Please note: Once you have saved tickets to your device’s wallet, the prize amounts for those tickets will not display in your wallet. You will need to visit a retailer to redeem your winning tickets. After you have redeemed at retail, please remember to remove the ticket(s) from your wallet.
I have winning tickets in my current app. How do I proceed?
Please redeem your in-app winning tickets at a Lotto Spot retailer soon. Make sure you save tickets to your device’s wallet. A how-to guide is available on this page.
Note: Once the new app launches, you won’t be able to access your tickets on the current app. Any tickets not saved or redeemed prior to the new app launching will require additional steps to claim.
